Our Team

We are a family owned and operated CrossFit facility located on the west side of Colorado Springs. We opened Progressive Fitness CrossFit in August of 2009. Our goal was to create a CrossFit gym obsessed with proper movement, world class coaching and community. Since our opening we have become more than a CrossFit facility, we are a CrossFit family. We provide a training environment where both everyday CrossFitters and Competitive athletes can thrive. All are welcome and our doors are always open.

Chris Hoppe is the Co-Founder of Progressive Fitness and the current manager of Progressive Fitness and The Phoenix. He has over a decade of experience in the fitness industry and a life committed to overall health. He was introduced to CrossFit in 2007 and has since gone on to become a top tier athlete and affiliate owner. He has also struggled with substance abuse disorder his entire life but was able to find recovery in 2010 through CrossFit, 12 step programs, and The Phoenix.

Beth “Ma” Hoppe is the Head Coach and Co-founder of Progressive Fitness CrossFit. She is a wife and mother of two boys. Her journey with CrossFit began in 2008. Exercise has always been a struggle for her, but with patience and persistence she has lost over 40lbs, climbed 14 fourteeners, and gone to the CrossFit games twice, in 2014 and 2015. Over the last decade helping people change their lives through fitness has become her true passion.

Judy began CrossFit in 2011 while working on the other side of the world. She had been a high school soccer player and had remained active by doing light weight/high volume weightlifting, going to yoga classes and running…a lot of running. Someone approached her one-day at the gym and suggested she try CrossFit. She never went back to the routine weightlifting program and hours on the treadmill again. Upon returning to the States she found a gym at home where she first experienced the powerful community of CrossFit; she knew that she was hooked for the long run. She loved that the people at the gym did life together- not just the daily workouts. In 2013, on another trip around the world Judy became CF-L1 certified and began sharing her love for this community with others. Judy says the best part of CrossFit is the people. She loves that she is part of a community where people are exchanging recipes, getting together to go hiking, and generally have similar interests of living a healthy lifestyle. CrossFit redefined what health, wellness and beauty means to her and she loves sharing that with others. When she’s not at the gym Judy loves to enjoy beautiful Colorado with her husband and dog. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Health and Wellness Promotion at UCCS.

Whether on the competitive fields of the schools or in the backyard with his two older brothers, there wasn’t a moment that Chris wasn’t playing some sort of sport. Every season brought a different sport with it and a competitiveness that seemed to disappear as he grew up and entered into adulthood. That was, of course, until he discovered CrossFit in 2013. Halfway through his first CrossFit workout Chris found that competitive drive again and has never looked back. CrossFit has completely changed his life for the better and led him to a career in the fitness industry. Chris has been working in the fitness industry since 2013 when he began coaching CrossFit in Charleston, South Carolina, and he continued to pursue that career path when he moved to Colorado with his wife in 2014. Over the past few years Chris has trained thousands of personal training sessions, coached hundreds of CrossFit classes, and worked with numerous patients as a rehab aide in a physical therapy clinic. Chris is currently pursuing his undergraduate in health sciences with aspirations of pursuing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. None of this would have been possible without CrossFit and the incredible community that he loves. It launched him into a career that has allowed him to change people’s lives, and nothing is more rewarding than that. When Chris is not coaching or training his clients he can usually be found somewhere in the mountains with his wife and pup, or trying to find his way to a beach somewhere. Chris has a true passion for helping others and leading everyone he meets to a healthier life, and has only just begun this journey.

Tim was competitive in sports throughout high school and that desire to be competitive and push himself continued as he joined the Army. While in the Army he continued to play sports and compete in military events. This desire to push himself also led him to join Special Operations units where he served the majority of his career.

Tim found Cross Fit on one of his deployments when one of his teammates asked him to do a hero WOD. After that workout he decided to switch his normal workout routine and follow Cross Fits workouts online and eventually joining Progressive Fitness Cross Fit.

After spending 25 years in the military, Tim decided that he wanted to help others in the Cross Fit community to achieve their goals and stay active by getting his CF Level 1 certification and joining the staff at PFCF.

Doug started his CrossFit journey in 2013 in order to lose weight and lead a healthier lifestyle. One year later he began working at a local rec center with their youth summer camps and after school program. He began to develop a passion for helping kids get active while still having fun, and strives to help kids and adults alike from falling into a similar situation that he found himself in when he was a teenager. By coaching fun, engaging activities and proper functional movement, Doug hopes to inspire the next generation of CrossFitters to reach heights they never thought possible.
